About CMP

The Career Mathematics Pathway (CMP) is an innovative framework that connects mathematics to university study, professional practice, and future careers. It helps students understand not only what they are learning in mathematics, but also why it matters and where it can be applied.

CMP bridges the gap between mathematical concepts and real-world challenges by linking every topic to authentic applications, career pathways, university programmes, investigations, projects, and portfolio evidence. Students develop the ability to apply mathematics within meaningful contexts while building the competencies required for success beyond school.

Through a combination of career-focused learning experiences, competency development, evidence-based assessment, and professional portfolio building, CMP supports students in becoming confident mathematical thinkers, independent learners, effective communicators, and informed decision-makers.

The framework is designed for students: learners who want to use mathematics purposefully in higher education, professional environments, and an increasingly complex world. Schools, universities and industry partners support the programme, but the learning journey belongs to the student.
