How it works

How CMP Works

From Grade 10 concepts to Grade 12 portfolios, CMP turns every mathematics topic into a pathway to university and professional life.

The Career Mathematics Pathway (CMP) connects mathematics to real-world applications, university programmes, and future careers. Students begin with mathematical concepts, explore how those concepts are used in professional fields, investigate authentic problems, and apply their learning through projects and evidence-based decision-making.

As students progress from Grade 10 to Grade 12, they build competencies in mathematical application, problem solving, communication, data analysis, professional judgement, and reflective practice. Learning is organised around career pathways such as Medicine, Engineering, Architecture, Business, Data Science, Environmental Science, Aviation, and Sports Science.

Students collect evidence of their learning through investigations, projects, presentations, reflections, and Capstone experiences. This evidence is stored in a professional portfolio that demonstrates growth, achievement, and readiness for future study.

By combining mathematics, career exploration, authentic application, portfolio development, and readiness tracking, CMP transforms mathematics from a school subject into a pathway to university, professional development, and lifelong learning.

How a student moves through CMP

Seven steps that turn every mathematics topic into a pathway toward university and profession.

  1. Step 1

    Choose pathway

Select a career pathway such as Medicine, Engineering, or Business.

  2. Step 2

    Complete diagnostic

Baseline mathematics and readiness diagnostic sets your starting point.

  3. Step 3

    Study resources

Work through unit readings, videos and curated open resources.

  4. Step 4

    Submit portfolio evidence

Investigations, projects and reflections build authentic evidence.

  5. Step 5

    Take assessment

Timed, unit-locked assessments confirm mastery at 90%+.

  6. Step 6

    Track progress

GPA, competencies and readiness score update in real time.

  7. Step 7

    Earn certification

Complete Grade 12 Capstone to earn CMP certification.
